MM and Guglielmo Marconi together to offer international marketers a comprehensive on-line skills development service

Manchester-based Multimedia Marketing.Com (MM), an affiliated company of Manchester Metropolitan University, has joined forces with the first public Italian on-line university Universita’ Telematica Guglielmo Marconi (UTGM). This commercial alliance aims at delivering best-of-class on-line education and continuous professional development (CPD) in the marketing and e-marketing subject areas.

The skills covered in the MM-UTGM online initiative are essential to any marketing person, and as such, will prove to be a valuable resource for any organisation looking for a cost-effective way to invest in training in their marketing department.

UTGM will offer access to MM’s learning content within the university’s own accredited Masters level programmes and as free-standing CPD modules for learners at home or in the workplace. Learners will be able to enrol via UTGM’s Virtual Campus and be seamlessly supported by MM tutors according to the chosen learning route. The joint initiative will also comprise some aspects of blended learning delivery in order to allow learners to take full advantage of this truly international e-learning delivery. On-line learning resources will be available in English and Arabic in order to address the potential interest for e-learning from students and practitioners living in the Mediterranean region.

Established in 1993, MM has been developing and delivering Marketing, Internet Marketing and e-Business education and training to individuals and organisations around the world. Over 180 Universities have used MM courses and training programmes have been delivered to large organisations including IBM, British Telecom and the British Council.

MM is an accredited study centre for the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). CIM is the world's largest professional marketing body with 50,000 members in 130 countries. CIM defines the marketing standards that operate in the UK and champions best practice globally.

UTGM is the first public, but not State-operated open university, which was established by the Italian Government in March 2004 with the backing of a consortium of companies from the telecom, banking and service sectors led by the ForCom Institute.

UTGM’s mission is to offer high-quality continuous learning opportunities by means of effective digital communication technologies and without any delivery time or place limitations.

The Italian e-learning market is growing at tremendous speed: in 2004 it is estimated to account for ca. 715 million euros (21% of the total training and development expenditure) against 53.6 million euros (2%) in 2001.
